Dry Cleaners

To Samantha

Out of the cleaners,
your pressed smile
shows not one crease;
the way you lay
perfectly folded on the couch,
so beautiful
even off the hanger.
How to give shape
to such a wonderful wardrobe?

I did. You did.
And now you’re packed
and ready.

Pam Laskin is the author of two volumes of poetry, CENTRAL STATION and REMEMBERING FIREFLIES. She is the Director of the Poetry Outreach Center at The City College.
