Through Lens, the Eye Misleads Itself
The tree protests its sole human cause.
Autumn orange leaves,
hair of flame
while invisible mending
stitches and confirms
movement and aid
giant manipulator of pose
and angular stillness,
flash (and uneducated sight)
gnarled arms, oil brown,
used to beautify the manicured lawn
of an hour’s many homes.
Turned from realism for the avant-garde,
the angle in which the lean occurs
touches light-blinding yellows,
